The Tournament Players Club (TPC) at Plum Creek was the home of the PGA Tours second golf course development. TPC projects are part of the PGA Tours overall plan for expanding world-class tournament golf competition and enhancing spectator enjoyment of Tour events. One integral part of that plan was to build a signature stadium course, similar to the original at TPC Sawgrass in Florida. A stadium course is one that was constructed with one of the main goals being to provide great vantage points for fans and media. It incorporates mounding and hillsides around greens, in particular, where spectators can sit and enjoy the great golf being played. The club opened in the spring of 1984 and was the home of the Senior PGA Tours Denver Post Championship of Golf Event for the last four years of its six year existence. (1984-1987) Players like Arnold Palmer, Lee Trevino, Chi Chi Rodriquez, Gary Player, Sam Snead, and many other current and future Golf Hall of Fame Members competed every year.
